Ingredients for Hot Cakes Recipe
- 2/3 cup coarse zwieback crumbs
- 3 tablespoons flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- Heat the milk to about 115 degrees.
- Mix the dry ingredients well, pour the milk over them, and let stand 10 minutes.
- Separate the eggs.
- Beat the yolks, and stir them into the crumb mixture.
- Beat the whites stiff and fold the crumb mixture into the beaten whites.
- Bake on an oiled soapstone griddle until browned.
