Milk Chocolate Dip

This simple chocolate dip is basically a ganache, made thin enough for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces milk chocolate, cut into small pieces
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Place the choc0late pieces in a small bowl.
  2. In a saucepan, warm the heavy cream and salt on medium-low, stirring, until the cream starts to simmer.
  3. Pour over the chocolate. Allow the chocolate to melt, 3 to 5 minutes. Whisk.
  4. Add the butter and whisk until it is smooth and incorporated.

Variations

You can also vary this recipe with some delicious add ins.

  • Melt ¼ cup of peanut butter with the heavy cream to make a milk chocolate-peanut butter dip.
  • Cool the dip slightly and stir in ½ cup of toffee bits to add texture and flavor.
  • Stir in ¼ cup of decorative sprinkles to the slightly cooled dip.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of Fireball whisky, whisking it with the butter.
  • Add ½ teaspoon of mint or almond extract to the cream as you cook it.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces dark chocolate, cut into small pieces
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup Nutella
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Place the chocolate pieces in a small bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream, Nutella, and sea salt over medium-low heat, whisking, until the Nutella is melted and incorporated and the cream starts to simmer.
  3. Pour over the chocolate pieces. Allow to sit until the chocolate melts, about five minutes.
  4. Whisk to blend. Whisk in the unsalted butter until melted and blended.

Variations and Add-Ins

Try these delicious variations:

  • Stir in ¼ cup chopped hazelnuts to the finished dip.
  • Add 2 tablespoons Frangelico liqueur or amaretto to the cream as you cook it.
  • Stir in 2 tablespoons Grand Marnier when you cook the cream.

White Chocolate Chambord Dip

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces white chocolate, finely chopped
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Chambord
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Place the chocolate pieces in a small bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream, Chambord, and salt, stirring, on medium-low until the cream simmers.
  3. Pour over the white chocolate and allow to rest for five minutes to allow the chocolate to melt.
  4. Whisk to combine well. Whisk in the butter until it is melted and the dip is smooth.

Variations

You can vary this dip in the following ways:

  • Replace the Chambord with 2 tablespoons of amaretto, creme de menthe, pear brandy, Frangelico, or Grand Marnier.
  • Replace 1 tablespoon of the Chambord with Grand Marnier and keep 1 tablespoon of the Chambord for an orange-raspberry dip.
  • Stir in the zest of ½ orange or 1 lime when you cook the cream.
  • Stir in ½ teaspoon finely grated ginger root when you warm the cream. Strain the cream mixture into the chocolate.
