
Ingredients for Hamburger Steak Recipe
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt, divided
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1/8 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 cup thinly sliced onion
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp cooking sherry
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, pepper, 1/2 teaspoon salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Roll meat into 8 balls, then press into patties.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Brown patties and onion in the oil until patties are evenly browned, approximately 4 minutes on each side.
- Once browned, remove patties and set aside on a covered dish.
- Sprinkle flour over the onions and drippings in the skillet.
- Whisk in flour with an egg beater, scraping bits of beef off of the bottom as you mix the flour.
- Slowly add in the beef broth and sherry.
- Add remaining seasoned salt. Simmer and stir over medium heat for approximately 5 minutes, until the gravy thickens.
- Turn heat to low, return beef patties to the gravy, cover, and simmer for an additional 15 minutes.
