Ingredients for Fried Turnips Recipe

  • 1 pound of turnips, greens removed
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 large onion (yellow or red)
  • 1 clove of minced garlic
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste


  1. Heat oil over medium heat in a medium skillet.
  2. While the oil is heating, peel and dice the onion.
  3. Place the onion and garlic into the hot oil and sauté.
  4. Peel and slice the turnips while the onion is cooking.
  5. Add the turnips to the skillet.
  6. Reduce heat to low.
  7. Cook for 45 minutes, stirring frequently.
  8. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
