Ingredients for Crisco Fruit Cake Recipe

  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 1/2 cup red and green candied cherries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease and flour a round tube pan.
  3. In a saucepan, boil the sugar, raisins, spices, Crisco, and water for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  5. In a large bowl, sift the flour, soda, baking powder and salt together.
  6. Combine all the ingredients and stir until combined.
  7. Pour mixture into the tube pan.
  8. Bake on middle oven rack for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool completely before cutting and serving.
