Baked Donut Recipe

Ingredients for Baked Donut Recipe

  • 1/3 cup scalded milk
  • 3 tbsp. sugar
  • 3 tbsp. shortening
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/3 cup warm water
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 tsp. lemon flavoring
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Let the yeast dissolve in warm water.
  3. Stir hot milk together with the sugar and shortening.
  4. Beat the egg into the yeast and gently mix in the lemon flavoring.
  5. Stir the nutmeg into the flour.
  6. Alternate adding the milk and flour mixtures into the yeast until all ingredients are used.
  7. Cover and let double in size.
  8. Knead and roll out onto a cutting board. Dough should be about 1/4 inch thick.
  9. Cut with donut or round cookie cutter.
  10. Place shapes on a greased cookie sheet.
  11. Bake for 15 minutes.
