  • 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/4 cup dried cherries
  • 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • Pinch to 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Combine apples, cherries, 1/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and lemon juice in a bowl and stir until combined.
  3. On a well-floured surface, roll each puff pastry into a square approximately 12 inches. Slice each sheet into quarters.

  5. Working one square at a time, add about 1/3 cup of apples to the center of each pastry square.

  7. Brush the top of each turnover with beaten egg and sprinkle with a small amount of sugar.
  8. Slice one or two slits in the top of the pastry.
  9. Bake for about 20-25 minutes, until the turnovers are golden and puffy.
